Link up to a better game at Golf & Body NYC

By Mira Temkin

With winter almost over and spring approaching, there’s a great way to get in shape for this season’s golf game. Golf & Body NYC, located in the heart of Manhattan, can advance your game, both physically and mentally, in a luxurious setting that replicates the finest golf courses in the world. Where else in midtown can you practice and play all year long?

This new, urban country club comes to life, blending golf, fitness, wellness, and entertainment. A holistic indoor golf experience, the 25,000 square foot Golf & Body NYC lets you enjoy the game no matter what the weather, while improving your play. “At our private club, golfers can get and stay fit with a world-renowned team of golf, fitness, and sports-medicine experts,” said Tom Schiff, CEO. The club also offers the perfect place to socialize with friends and business associates at the “19th hole,” a sophisticated bar and dining experience.

Like playing at the world’s top courses

With multiple, state-of-the-art High–Definition™ video golf simulators, you feel like you’re teeing off at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic or Pebble Beach in California. Hitting bays, surrounded by plush sofas and chairs, are equipped with TrackMan golf radar and video analysis software to help you improve your swing, along with three putting and chipping greens.

The club offers instruction and coaching for players of all levels and is led by Director of Golf Services, Ronnie McDougal.  Darrell Kestner, recognized by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, as one of the country’s top instructors and Eden Foster, a Golf Magazine Top 100 instructor, round out the team. Their golf professionals will evaluate your swing and short game, developing individualized programs to maximize your golf performance.

A Team Approach lets you Train like a Pro

Just like the leading players on the PGA Tour, Golf & Body members have a “team” of experts who personalize and customize programs to address their needs and desires. Their fitness/golf teams have created a new system for monitoring and analyzing the body’s strengths and weaknesses. This system is the starting point for an on-going program that is regularly updated to reflect the member’s progress in both his/her health and golf game.

“Golfers can work out in our well-equipped gym with cardio machines, free weights, weight apparatus, and more,” added Schiff. The gym also includes specific devices designed to develop a golfer’s strength, flexibility and conditioning. The club is designed to help you train like the game’s top players with PGA Tour fitness trainer Ben Shear, who has created a total body program based on his work with Tour golfers.

For those recovering from an injury (golf or otherwise), the club offers an entire suite of physical therapy equipment with therapists, massage services, acupuncture and nutritionist services.

The club also features a True Spec Fitting suite where players can analyze their stance, ergonomics, physiognomy and swing to determine they’re using the appropriate clubs. “Once data is gathered, players can select from more than 30,000 possible club combinations to get their equipment right,” said Schiff.

Entertaining Options

Golf & Body NYC offers entertainment options that turn the “19th hole” into a sophisticated bar, dining, or event space, creating a highly unique and memorable guest experience. This sleek, high-end facility provides a choice of areas that can be configured to best suit your event. While golf may be part of the program, it’s not a requirement. Since opening, the venue has successfully hosted networking events, product launches, fashion shows, board meetings, and team-building retreats.

Come join the club

As an oasis in midtown, members can reserve a bay for personal practice or to entertain friends and colleagues after work or before a game at Madison Square Garden. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available in the Golf & Body NYC café as well. Golf & Body NYC offers a variety of memberships, with initiation fees starting at $15,000. “Our mission is to help members play the best game of their lives, in the best shape of their lives,” added Schiff.
