Pollfish [https://www.pollfish.com]—the world’s foremost mobile survey company—asked 1,500 Americans to weigh in on Trump’s performance in a flash poll conducted on April 9, 2017.
Key findings from the poll include:
>> AMERICANS (VERY) NARROWLY APPROVE OF THE SYRIA STRIKE
38% of Americans support Trump’s decision to conduct a military strike in Syria, while another 35% disapprove. 27% are unsure, hinting that the strike was incredibly divisive.
>> TRUMP VOTERS ARE 5X AS SUPPORTIVE OF THE SYRIA STRIKE AS CLINTON VOTERS
72% of respondents who voted for Trump in the last election support the strike—that’s 34% more than popular opinion. It’s also 5x more than Clinton voters, only 15% of which approve.
>> 1 IN 5 AMERICANS RESPECT TRUMP MORE AFTER THE STRIKE
19% of Americans say the strike improved their opinion of Trump, while another 23% say it worsened their opinion. 58% say their opinions stayed the same.
>> AMERICANS ARE AMBIVALENT ABOUT U.S. FOREIGN POLICY—BUT LEAN INTERVENTIONIST
When asked what best describes their position on U.S. foreign policy, 37% of Americans said they lean interventionist, while only 9% expressed isolationist leanings. 54% of Americans are unsure of their position.
